Love at First Sight!

Had a gestational ultrasound yesterday to determine due-date: Saw the baby! Wowwww! Things become really real at that point!!!! Looks like a healthy lil' limabeantadpole and the tech figured about 8 1/2 weeks! ...which brings us to approx. June 15th or so!! VERY relieved to see that there is, indeed, a baby in my tummy and that it looks normal (though tadpole-like) for it's stage of development...and LOVED seeing a beating heart!! Can't wait to tell everyone!! 3 more weeks...

CRAVINGS AND REPULSIONS

CRAVINGS: Cheeseburgers, BBQ pulled pork sandwiches, fruit, water, candy (all normal cravings for me aside from water!)

REPULSIONS: Hot Rods (normally a "dirty little secret" of mine, but currently they repulse me!), milk (prolly not a good thing!), and the idea of working in general...

RANDOM THINGS THAT HAVE MADE ME CRY LIKE A CRAZY LADY: A particularly moving routine on "So You Think You Can Dance Canada!", "House", photography, IAMS Pet Adoption commercials, "Marley and Me" movie preview, Canada AM, Brenden dropping a large bench, etc, etc...
...I also cried in the Honda dealership in front of the secretary when I found out my parents had paid for half my repairs without me knowing (and currently still makes me tear-up as I write this...)

I can't help it, it's the hormones! My early pregnancy symptoms manifest not in morning sickness or particularly sore boobs but in extreme emotion and anxiety!! (Whatevs: I'd rather cry than barf anyhoo!)

SURPRISE, ALL!!

I'm a babymomma! We found out on Friday, October 17th at 6:30 in the morning!! (Well...I found out- Brenden had left for work at 5:30!!) I took one of those +/- tests, and it was a faaaint +...so I promptly drove to 24 hr. Shoppers to get a "digital" test, because those ones are for ladies who prefer the words "pregnant" or "not pregnant" over ambiguously faded signs and symbols!

...it said: "pregnant".

Needless to say, after 9 months of trying, 4 pregnant friends, 3 actual babies, many pregnant celebrities and a drawer full of baby clothing that "I can give away to friends if I have to...", I WAS PUMPED!!!! (And on the verge of crazy baby-stealing lady)

So Friday I ditched work, went to Chapters and spent $75 on baby-having literature and spent the rest of the day at home on the couch, watching "A Baby Story" on TLC, finding out I had yet another pregnant girlfriend (but I couldn't tell her yet!!! Oh! It was hard!!!) and eating pretty much whatever I wanted to until I read in my literature that that wasn't exactly what I was supposed to do!

Soooo excited to tell Big B; I rented the movies: "Baby Momma", "Juno", and "Knocked Up" for us to watch that night in celebration...when B came home from work, I was standing on the stairs trying to look nonchalant. He said: "How come you're so happy?"...damn, I've a shitty poker face, evidently!

...so I told him: "I've rented us some movies to watch tonight: they're in that bag." So he looks at them, and then asks: "Ummm...we've seen all these. Is this because you're pregnant?" (starting to smile!)...

Anyhoo, that's the story so far...I'm making this blog thingy to talk about being preggers so that those of you who do want updates can read it if you so choose...so that you will not have to be bombarded by Facebook "status Updates" and mass emails focused on me and my BabyMomma-ness all the time. I will try to keep this mildly entertaining by reporting on the funny pregnant moments, and I will add pictures, etc... along the way, for those of you who are far away (and there are far too many of you!!)...

Woooo! I'm excited for this adventure: It's bound to have some "bumps" along the way!!
